Coffee House:  Jane Foote provides the music for our Coffee House on October 27 at 6:30.  Here is what one reviewer says about the book written by our speakers for the evening:  LIVING CONSCIOUSLY, DYING GRACEFULLY offers a sensitive and informative look at illness and life transitions.

“As a hospice volunteer I encountered a variety of texts and articles on death and dying, but there is a completeness to this book that makes it one I know I will return to as a source of comfort and guidance.

The four core sections of the book focus on Diane Manahan's breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, her physical death, the lessons that continue to unfold with her family and friends, and a guidebook containing practical applications.

Excerpts from Diane's journal give readers insight into the spectrum of emotions she experiences. We see her not only as a remarkable woman (nurse educator, wife, mother, friend, musician, athlete), but fully human as she acknowledges all aspects of her character in facing such a daunting challenge with courage, dignity and humor.

Authors Nancy Manahan and Becky Bohan have written a loving tribute which inspires and educates."

ARMENIA: WORLD FOOD DAY:  One way UMCOR helps is through its Cheese Distribution Program in Armenia. Anush, a little Armenian girl, is among the 31 percent of children that are below the average weight and height due to malnutrition. Children who are malnourished do not physically develop the way they should. Cheese is providing a healthier life.

About 6,000 vulnerable people receive three ounces of cheese every day through this program, which started in 1999. The cheese adds the vital protein, essential vitamins and minerals that are necessary for their bodies to grow and function properly. Anush no longer suffers from malnutrition.

UMCOR continues to buy locally produced cheese for Armenia, one of the 22 worst undernourished populations in the world. About 21 tons of cheese will be delivered to several Armenian institutions serving children and the elderly. Help children like Anush get nourishing meals this World Food Day. Give to UMCOR Armenia Emergency, Advance #250225.

A Finger Labyrinth has been donated by a member of the congregation that is available for members to use.  There are suggestions for use on table in the back of the Sanctuary on how to use it for you to take home if you wish (yellow sheet).  Come try it out.  Use your imagination and enjoy!

Peace Nursery for September 2007 – May 2008:  If you have a child under the age of 4 years old and would like to use the nursery this coming fall, please contact Penny as soon as possible in the church office (penny@peaceumc.com or 651-484-2226 x10).  In the past, the nursery has been staffed by a parent co-op (the parents who use it staff the nursery on a rotating basis).  Penny will contact interested parents in August so plans can be made how to best staff the nursery.  Currently the nursery will be open during worship services, but it will not be staffed.  If you have any questions regarding the nursery, please contact Elliot or Teal Stefanik.  They can be reached at thestefaniks@aol.com or 651-552-7031.

EQUAL EXCHANGE:  There is much news about the threat of global warming.  One of the suspected causes of global warming is the clearing of forest land for raising crops.  Large corporate coffee growers clear forest land for their coffee plantations, whereas Equal Exchange buys coffee from small growers who produce shade grown coffee leaving the forest intact.

Project AgGrad:  Look for garden fresh produce, rhubarb and Kohl's Farm Fresh Eggs as well as Equal Exchange Coffee on the AgGrad shelves every Sunday.  Please keep the donations to each separate in the marked containers.  All produce and egg donations as well as coffee profits go toward supporting an agricultural student from a developing nation at the University of Minnesota through Project AgGrad.  If you have a garden, please donate produce.  If you take eggs or produce, please leave a generous donation.  Remember it's going to a worthy cause.  Any questions, please contact Andrew Mills.

Cars for Kids:  Donate your car to the Motivating Teens to Victory program and get a tax deduction for your generous contribution and support a program that is helping children reach their potential.  For more information,

call (651) 483-5246.                                Sponsored by Berean Church and Bob’s Auto Ranch.

Tutoring:  Anyone interested in tutoring students in grades K – 12 on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at our sister church, Berean Church; please contact Bob or Pat Kohl.
