Sunday School at
Peace United Methodist Church

From September through May there is Sunday School offered at 10:20AM. Children should attend church service with their parents and friends through the children's message and then go to Sunday School.

Sunday School starts with study groups for their age group and then conclude with a large group session recapping sessions message.

Praise music may be enjoyed during the large group time that will sometimes be led by the "J-Walkers" the PUMC youth band or by Steve Ruble.

There are Sunday school groups for pre-school through third grade. Fourth and fith graders are in their own program.

The Sunday School program at Peace church has different messages each week with a common theme for the session that lasts a couple of months.

A lesson can often be taught through several different method. There are several teachers for each age group that rotate. Depending on the message and the teacher different methods will be used. The "Living Big" curriculum is used. Check it out here Click on the logo to the left to visit their site.

The art station is a favorite of the creative type. Through creating a work of art, a puppet or a sculpture the bible and characters can come alive in a new way for the children.

The wall mural of the Last Supper was especially effective as characters were added each Sunday until Easter.

Often teaching methods such as "games" or "drama" are used to add variety. However the lesson is being experienced (or taught) it always guaranteed to keep kids interest and teach the subject.

The rotational method of teaching Sunday School keeps the kids interested as well as being easy on the teachers. The volunteer teachers only need to plan and teach one or two lessons per month.
