Food and Site Preparations for Good Neighbor Meal

Each group can choose what they wish to serve but a stock set of proven menus and recipes can be provided.

In January the Bell Choir pitched in to make chili. A cottage cheese based salad was also served as well as cornbread.

Many hands make light work! With 10-15 people pitching in cooking is a snap!

Bread is donated by Panera. First any pre-sliced pieces are buttered and cut in half. About 20 pieces of buttered bred is put in each basket to set on the tables.

Cakes are provided by a youth group and are cut to be put on plates later.

Table clothes are put on the 14 tables as well as salt, pepper and the coffee service items.

Pat was ready with beverages when people started to come in around 1:30. Hot coffee was the favorite in January!

Looks like the chili is about ready!

The cornbread is out of the oven and we are ready to serve!

At 11:30 we circle for final instructions and to sing the "World Peace Prayer" for our guests and ourselves.
Silverware is wrapped in a napkin and secured with an "Embers" wrapper. They are placed on the tables for use along with the salt and pepper shakers, butter and coffee sugar and creamer.
Next the meal is served!
