Brief Bio for David Wheeler

Our guest Pastor for last Sunday was David B Wheeler whom consults with non-profits and churches on strategic planning, resource development, governance, communications, and media relations.

In recent years David has served as Executive Director of the National Parkinson Foundation Minnesota, project manager for the Draw the Line Minnesota Citizen Redistricting Commission, the director of development for Community Involvement Programs, a disability non-profit, and also director of development and communications for Alexandra House, a battered women’s shelter.

As the former lead minister of Brunswick United Methodist Church, David had good success in reenergizing and refocusing this first-ring suburban church with new programs and members. As Minister of Invitation at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, a Twin Cities metropolitan church, David’s portfolio included church growth, communications and marketing, stewardship and fund-raising.  He has also served churches in rural, suburban and urban settings.

Work Team heading to South Dakota United Methodist Center

A team of 17 will be leaving Peace today (Sunday, August 2) at 7 am to spend the week of service at Storm Mountain Center in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This will be the second team from Peace, the first visiting Storm Mountain the summer of 2013. The projects have not yet been finalized, but it looks as if the team may be doing some staining and brush removal. The team will consist of six adults and eleven youth.  As well as working at Storm Mountain we will be enjoying different experiences around the Black Hills. Please remember the team mindfully in your thoughts and prayers while they are serving as part of the Peace community of faith.
